Christmas in the big city is a splendid affair. With so many cultures and influences all coming together in our melting pot of a city, there is a multitude of ways you can enjoy the festive season. From ice skating at Somerset House to cocktails and a trendy rooftop bar, many people know ways they can soak up the holiday feeling. However, if you are looking for something a little bit different, something a little more unique, I’ve found some fantastic options which will meet the brief!
In this article, I look at five of the most unique Christmas experiences in London.
The Quality Chop House
Address: The Quality Chop House, 88-94 Farringdon Rd, Clerkenwell, London EC1R 3EA
Christmas at The Quality Chop House is an elegant affair and feels purely Dickensian in nature. The timely interior design and considered features mean you’ll truly feel like you’re stepping back in time. The seasonal menu features a mixture of traditional fare and modern flavours, perfect for a one of a kind meal.
For an even more formal affair, the private room seats 8 to 16 people. It’s the perfect place for hosting family and friends together, and you’ll feel well looked after with a dedicated member of the team at your call.
Address: Bounce, 121 Holborn, London EC1N 2TD
If you are looking for a night of fun, Bounce is a great location for that and a brilliant meal. As the London home of ping pong, spending your night around a table is a great way to loosen up and have a laugh. The Christmas menu includes modern twists on classic festive flavours, like the pigs in blankets-filled Yorkshire puddings, smoked chicken, cranberries and gorgonzola pizza and much more. The drinks menu is equally as fun, with unique cocktails and a fantastic gin menu.
Coppa Club Igloos
Address: Coppa Club, 3, Three Quays Walk, Lower Thames St, London EC3R 6AH
For incredible views (and photos) Coppa Club’s annual Igloos are back and more beautiful than ever. Next to Tower Bridge with views of the Thames, the igloos offer a fantastic setting for a romantic evening, catching up with friends or spending a night with family. If you are looking for one of the best festive places to drink in London, I can highly recommend trying here. Igloos are given on a first come, first served basis so arriving early is a must if you want to secure one. However, even inside Coppa Club, you’ll be in for a good time.
Beauty and the Feast
Address: The Vaults Theatre, Leake St, Lambeth, London SE1 7NN
If the avant-garde is more your style, The Vaults’ Christmas show, Beauty and the Feast, offers a completely unique experience. A mixture of theatre and fine dining, a night here will be something to remember. Laced with dark and twisted tones, the show invites you to attend the Beast’s palace and help break an evil spell. Throughout the evening you’ll follow in the footsteps of Belle, dine and drink at the Feast and work together to break the spell.
York & Albany Gingerbread Cabin
Address: York & Albany, 127-129 Parkway, London NW1 7PS
Opened on the 12th of November, this hidden gem is a great setting for a fantastic evening with friends or loved ones. The Gingerbread Cabin, constructed in York and Albany’s Camden courtyard offers one of the most beautiful settings in the big city.
Whilst in the cabin you’ll be provided with festive themed cocktails, a festive menu of savoury and sweet canapes, and great extras like a giant gingerbread cookie and decorating kit. The quaint cabin can be booked for groups, and it’s a fantastic way to spend a unique evening whilst still enjoying decadent dining.
There are my five choices for the most interesting and unique Christmas experiences in London this year. So now, all you have to do is decide where you’ll be booking first.
